The Wheel 04:06
So the wheel comes 'round again A start always follows from an end So many lives lived by a single soul So many stories to cover up the holes The last seemed to find a solution Acceptance and resolution But the soul was not unbound From the wheel still turning 'round We rewrite We review And the story starts anew Now I once again play the role Of writing the stories of Supersonic Soul And oh! What a hateful part to play To know what's been given and taken away He struggled with his demons, accepted and found peace But still the wheel turned, he still was not released My wish, my one and only goal Has always been to help the Supersonic Soul I'm free to change his past Could something be rewritten to set him free at last I'll find it in his history I hope it can be done I start my re-reading With issue number 1...

This City's Got Soul You can feel it in the air You can feel it in the ground On the radio and TV Even in the traffic sounds It's got a rhythm This city's got a groove It needs a hero who can keep up with every move I'm supersonic so I can hit that goal The people don't know it yet, but This city's got Soul The police do all they can Cleaning up the street It's harder in a city That's too big for the beat Living free and happy The rights we all expect A city like this, it takes more power to protect Now I know my purpose Now I know my role Now I have the power and now, this city's got Soul Tonight I stopped a car the police could not outrun Saved a woman named Ana being held up with a gun Stopped a cop from being shot on a routine patrol The city is slowly finding out They've got the Supersonic Soul
4.
Out of the ocean onto the shore A giant reptile rises with a terrifying roar The city panics as the creature draws near They're about to find out They've got nothing to fear Now I'm about to show them that they can depend on me I will not fail to tip the scales This lizard is going back to sea Let me be your hero I won't let you down Let me be your hero Protector of this town Surviving the pressure at the bottom of the sea It's tougher than hitting cold blood is the key My supersonic scream heats the air with sound The creature's eyes go glassy and it falls to the ground So now I'm sure they understand what I'm really all about They're sure to see the need for me I'm the hero they won't wanna be without Let me be your hero I won't let you down Let me be your hero Protector of this town I don't need congratulations or rewards to save the day Just to know I have a place here where they're glad to have me stay

What's it gonna take To prove myself to you What's it gonna take To show you my heart is true Will I ever be good enough What's it gonna take to be your man Can't eat, can't sleep I'm lonely and I'm miserable No matter what I do I feel invisible Will I ever be good enough What's it gonna take to be your man Don't want to try too hard But I can't let it go So I keep on trying harder But I wish you'd let me know Will I ever be good enough What's it gonna take to be your man What's it gonna take To prove myself to you What's it gonna take To show you my heart is true Will I ever be good enough What's it gonna take to be your man Are you gonna say something Don't you see me trying Are you gonna say nothing Just leave me crying Will I ever be good enough What's it gonna take to be your man Did I do something wrong Is there something I missed Am I outta your sight Do you know I exist Will I ever be good enough What's it gonna take to be your man What's it gonna take To prove myself to you What's it gonna take To show you my heart is true Will I ever be good enough What's it gonna take to be your man What's it gonna take To prove myself to you What's it gonna take To show you my heart is true Will I ever be good enough What's it gonna take to be your man

I look around and see the signs I see the cases, see the weapons I can read between the lines You're getting ready to invade This sickly city like a cancer With your parasitic trade You think you have the upper hand You've got the muscle, got supply And you'll create the demand Not gonna happen in this town Before you fill a single grave I promise I will take you down I'm gonna push the pusher Push him right outta this town This neighborhood is filled with doubt That poverty, discrimination, and their luck leave no way out From in the shadows you speak Like the serpent to the sick the poor, the hungry, and the weak I look for weakness too Go where I'm needed to protect the weak From predators like you I promise you by all that's right I'll follow you into the gutter Drag you up into the light I will be staying here 'Til I have stopped you selling evil poison, sickness, crime, and fear Won't let it happen in this town They'll see it written on my face The minute that I take you down
8.
By saving this community I've made many enemies Who wait to get back at me With patience and enmity And when an old friend in a low place Can be bought for my disgrace I start to hear You're no better than us Who are you to tell us Are you jealous? Overzealous? What are you trying to sell us? You can't do right by the people Without people dragging you down Oh, how heroic to have to hide the human every hero has inside A statement accusing me of hiding a history of wild delinquency that ended in custody Photographs of his face and mine Both smiling, laughing at the time All it proves is that I knew him But they say That's his face, all right Our guiding light You can see they were tight Guess he's not such a white knight You can't do right by the people Without people dragging you down (Oh, how heroic to have to hide the hero...)

The Mask 03:35
Outside I'm smiling, laughing Nothing seems to worry me at all Inside I'm full of fear Shivering and curled up in a ball It's nothing I can't handle I can keep my inside to myself We'll all be better off If I pretend I'm someone else The work that I do is good for me and you And all that it takes is to agree That you'll never ask to look behind the mask At the truth no one should ever have to see Outside I'm charismatic, cool, collected, really super guy Inside I'm terrified someone might find out it's all a lie If anyone could see The truth inside of me Then everything I have would go away So I put on the mask And no one ever asks 'Cause they don't want to know anyway Nobody needs to know Nobody needs to see Nobody wins if I take off the mask It's just the real me Outside I'm bulletproof so go ahead and give me all you've got It's only inside that a word can wound as badly as a shot With the mask I can hide The weakness inside And no one has to see it on my face And I can overcome I'm starting to get numb The real me is slowly being erased I can be brave I can be strong I can be a hero Behind the mask Hide what I think Hide what I feel Hide what I need Behind the mask I relax I forget I disappear Behind the mask

There you were just a blur of fists and fury Anyone on your bad side ought to worry So fast, so strong So cool in a fight You and I could do a lot of good tonight And I say Ooh, oh, Want to make a duo with you Whoa 'Cause I think you would work well with me (hee) Far as I can see If you are everything you seem We'll be the perfect team I'm not saying you can't do this on your own But aren't you tired of spending every night out there alone Don't you want to be with someone who's looking out for you Two heads are better than Four fists are better than two And I say Ooh, oh, Want to make a duo with you Whoa 'Cause I think you would work well with me (hee) Far as I can see If you are everything you seem We'll be the perfect team It's not a crime so don't fight it The perfect team A fuse waiting for us to light it The perfect team 2 flames burn brighter united The way we move We're totally in sync It's like you're hearing every little thing I think I'm thinkin' I'll always watch your back Never let you down Together you and I are cleaning up this town And I say Ooh, oh We're the perfect duo, and you Whoa You were meant to team up with me (hee) Anyone can see We're better than I dared to dream We are the perfect team

She jumps in a shower of sparks on the back of a tin man As the last one hits the ground without a head Her face is full of rage and concentration But I know she's thinking of the boy at home in bed A Russian mad scientist by the name of Doktor Konquest With a robot army made to enforce his rule But while we stop his plans for world domination I know she's thinking about the call she got from school He's been sent home for fighting; been suspended Something will have to be done when this invasion is ended On the way I heard her say It stops here It ends now I'm drawing the line You will get what you deserve Surrounded by several at once, I lose sight of my partner The trail of metal bodies makes her easy to find She holds the Doktor against the wall, eye to eye But I know she's seeing the scene replaying in her mind The smile dying in his eyes when she says, "I have to go" He says, "Be careful mom," and his voice is sad and low He's not surprised; this is nothing new He doesn't blow the candles out 'cause wishes don't come true And she cries It stops here It ends now I'm drawing the line You will get what you deserve A hero makes enemies that won't just forgive and forget So when Sarah retired, Shockwave had to die We met one last time at her grave, she had her arm around the boy They looked happy happy to say goodbye It stops here It ends now

Waves 05:13
I would have taken more pictures If I'd known you wouldn't stay But memories and photographs both fade So I guess it doesn't make a difference anyway And when you said hello I should have known you'd say goodbye Next time I will remember this So I won't sit here wondering why Waves wash away from the land We build our castles in the sand You can play inside Just remember the tide The waves will wash in when it's high So sooner or later, goodbye I might have told you you mattered If I thought it could make you stay Now I have to thank you for the lesson learned Though I guess that it's a debt I never can repay I'll never say forever I know it's a promise I can't make Next time I will remember this Won't make bonds I can't afford to break Waves wash away from the land We build our castles in the sand You can play inside Just remember the tide The waves will wash in when it's high So sooner or later, goodbye There are beautiful things in my life today That I didn't know about yesterday What's gone tomorrow Brings me no sorrow I know nothing's here to stay Even loneliness goes away

This Is War 04:56
(Let's see...) I'm holding nothing You've got guns You outnumber me 10 to 1 So here's the deal - I'm willing to pay a whole dollar to anyone who walks away Can anyone break a twenty? Oh- never mind I can see I'm keeping this 'cause none of you is walking out of here on two broken legs so let me just say what I came to say Supersonic Soul is back Like nothing you've faced before This is not a push No mercy, no quarter This is war What's the point of wrong and right and good and bad and black and white If hiding in the dark is making fools and victims of the light? I'm not afraid of shade The jaded scum who make the dumb mistake of waiting for day to fade become my prey I opened my eyes and analyzed the violent side Standing by in silence now it wants to come out A certain satisfaction when I put a guy in traction No harm in a broken arm No one we should care about It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood Somebody's gonna get beaten good and left to bleed in a neighborly way as a message and warning to anyone who comes my way Can you beg for mercy? I knew that you could I can see you're offering to tell me nearly anything to make the pain go away, but I like you just the way you are No need to show restraint There's no reward for being a saint The notion of a pure and noble hero fighting clean is quaint Gave up naivete To cease to cave or look away I meet the craven evil and depraved halfway No more mask I got nothing to hide and nothing to lose A name and a mission Nothing you can use So look at my face Look into my eyes Memorize, realize, whatever you do I will come for you
16.
On Trial 04:15
The clock ticks and I wait I got the time and date Of a major transaction A wide open space The perfect place For some violent action Time to kick off the night I step into the light But nobody tries to run They're all standing their ground They start moving around me I see it's supposed to be a trap for me Oh! This is gonna be fun! No matter what you try to do Nothing can stop me You know I'll be coming for you Can't even slow me down I only need a little while You're gonna get it To put you on trial Cause I'm the judge jury and executioner in this town The smile's hard to resist When faces hit my fist So much fun I just can't take it I'm so far in the zone It feels like every bone is telling me the perfect place to hit to break it From behind, a wall of sound knocks me to the ground A good hit, and points for surprise I get up and turn around I see a familiar frown And I'm shocked to realize He's wearing her colors He's wearing her mask He has his mother's powers I shouldn't have to ask but After all she gave up for you Don't you feel ashamed I will beat that costume off of you And make you give up that name No matter what you do Nothing can stop me You know I'll come for you Can't even slow me down I just need a little while You're gonna get it To put you on trial Cause I'm the judge jury and executioner in this town Hold up Better think this through Gotta be sure about what I'm about to do Do I really want to tussle with Sarah's kid Knowing 'xactly how he ended up the way that he did He was already sad, already mad, already in a bad way already full of pain and violence and doubt So I'll cut him some slack, hold a bit back But that doesn't mean I won't knock him the hell out Then Sarah's standing next to him with sadness in her eyes She says, "Please don't fight us we're the good guys" And I'm so confused She says, "Take another look around" and I notice all the badges on the bodies on the ground Something's wrong with you I'm here to help you You're out of control If justice still matters to you Please let us take you in Get you the help you need Put you on trial For the harm you've done to the people of this town Something's wrong with you And I'm running... You're out of control I'm running away...

Hiding in the dark, in the shadows and the alleys like a criminal So this is what it feels like to be wanted I tried so hard to use my powers for good Like I thought I should But no one really noticed Now I'm doing all I can to keep myself out of sight To avoid the light I'm finally who they're looking for I tried to lead the weak through the valley of shadow Tried to help them grow But they didn't want to follow Now I have to always keep moving And cover my tracks I can never relax Everything I know is wrong Everything I know is wrong All the people I've tried to be Piece by piece I've lost the real me I tried so hard to connect to something more Greater than I was before But connection never lasts Now I have to keep away from any reaching hand 'Cause I understand I won't escape its grasp I told myself I went into the darkness where the law couldn't reach With a lesson only violence could teach But I was lying to myself Instead of stopping crime, I committed a lot I thought I was a good guy; I found out I'm not I used to know what makes a hero, but I guess I forgot Everything I know is wrong Everything I know is wrong All the people I've tried to be Piece by piece I've lost the real me My thoughts are scattered My heart is shattered My soul is lost but I guess it doesn't matter now Everything I know is wrong When all is said and done There's a way around every problem except one This is my last issue

READER: So, after every page went black The time came for me to bring him back I wanted to write the hero of my youth Bring back the light, the beauty, love, and truth SS: It's your fault Right away I saw it As Sonic Supersoul The song was incomplete because the past was still not whole You modernize the character The time and facts are changed The history's rewritten But the feelings still remain Ghosts of emotions Trapped in pain that cannot heal From lives no longer real Ghosts of emotions Life felt like this before But this is not that life any more I know you meant well Trying to set me free From a complicated history, but You did this to me From a single page in issue 1 An incidental part You invented a relationship and Ana stole my heart READER: I thought it would be better But now I understand Why you felt more deeply Than even I had planned The stories were discarded The memories were gone But in your love and pain Sarah lives on SS: So I return once again To fix the beginning To unfix the end The ghosts must be freed at last The present becomes dissonant When cut off from the past We already know resolution is the key Accepting and embracing my entire reality You don't have to save me from my own memory The past and present give the song Continuity The timeline isn't perfect but it will work out somehow I'm breaking Logos open wide it's all coming back now

Vow 02:04
I've been lost more than I've been found I've been up but mostly I've been down I've been hurt and I'll get hurt again Life ain't about avoiding pain Every scar's a lesson and strength that you gain I'm never hoping for heartbreak But sometimes that's what it's gonna take I tried to be someone else All I did was lose myself And the other guy that I was Was miserable too I don't know if there's a happy end But I know it won't come from trying to pretend No more forgetting From now on I'll try to know who I am and not a lie So this is my goal and my solemn vow To embrace it all, my past, future, and now My power's greatest when the parts become whole Connected by love, and sound, to my Supersonic Soul

The End 01:10

about

The hero's ascension didn't free him from the karmic wheel. Is the reason hidden in his back-story? The Supersonic Soul trilogy concludes.
